Fatima's Artistic Odyssey: From Student to Creative Visionary

My name is Fatima Jibril Jambil, and I'm a student pursuing a degree in Public Health at Alhikmah University. Born and raised in Bauchi State, I spent my formative years there, completing both my primary and secondary education.
While I was initially pursuing a different academic path at Gombe State University, a series of events—a COVID-19 lockdown and an ASUU strike—led me to transfer to Alhikmah University. During this period of uncertainty, a chance encounter with a local artist, introduced by my sister, ignited a spark within me. I found myself drawn to the world of painting, captivated by the colors, shapes, and the freedom of expression it offered.
From that moment on, I immersed myself in the art world. I spent countless hours watching painting tutorials, experimenting with different techniques, and exploring various art forms beyond painting. Calligraphy, marble painting, resin art, crafting, and candle-making all became avenues for my creativity.
Balancing my academic pursuits with my artistic passion has been a delicate dance. However, I've found that art serves as a rejuvenating escape, offering a much-needed respite from the rigors of studying. By dedicating specific time slots to both, I've managed to create a harmonious balance between the two.
One of the most significant challenges I've faced as an artist has been overcoming the limitations of my environment. In a region where art isn't widely celebrated, finding customers and sourcing materials proved to be daunting tasks. However, I turned to the power of social media, leveraging platforms like TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook to showcase my work and connect with a broader audience. This digital strategy not only expanded my reach but also opened doors to potential buyers from different states.
Among my various artistic endeavors, one project holds a special place in my heart. A rose flower painting, created with acrylics on canvas, was the first piece I sold on Instagram. This milestone marked a significant turning point, validating my artistic journey and fueling my passion.
For aspiring artists, I offer this advice: stay true to your vision, persevere through challenges, and constantly strive for improvement. Embrace a consistent practice, learn from feedback, and draw inspiration from the world around you. Remember the spark that ignited your artistic journey and let it guide your every step.
My brand, Tees_Design_Gallery, is a reflection of my artistic identity. The name is a combination of my own name, Fatima, and the word "design," which encapsulates the core of my creative pursuits. I aimed to create a brand that is both personal and professional, one that embodies my unique style and artistic vision.
