Dr. Jamila Mohammed Dahiru: Bridging Education, Leadership, and Innovation in Northern Nigeria

Born and raised in Northern Nigeria, Dr. Jamila Mohammed Dahiru was guided from an early age by the values of faith, resilience, and service—principles that have defined both her personal and professional journey. Academically accomplished, she holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication, an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, and both M.Sc. and B.A. degrees in Mass Communication.

Dr. Jamila began her career as a classroom teacher before moving into academia. She lectured at the Department of Mass Communication, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, for seven years, mentoring and supervising students, before transferring her expertise to the University of Abuja, where she now lectures in the Department of Development and Strategic Communication.

Her work extends beyond academia into consultancy with international organizations such as the World Bank, FCDO–Lafiya Project, UNDP, USAID–State2State, and the Open Contracting Partnership. These engagements allowed her to blend local realities with global best practices, making an impact on governance, reform, and inclusive development.

Dr. Jamila also served as Commissioner of Education in Bauchi State, collaborating with educators, traditional rulers, civil servants, and development partners to strengthen the education system, improve quality, and expand opportunities for learners. This role reinforced her belief that leadership is most effective when it is collaborative and people-centered.

She is the author of three books—A Woven Woman: Life in Academia, Public Service and Tradition; Dear Self: Lessons from Two Years of Friday Reflection; and Educating the North: Shaping Tomorrow Together—each capturing a different dimension of her journey and vision. At the heart of her work, whether in the classroom, in government, through consultancy, or in writing, is a singular purpose: to use education, communication, and empowerment as tools to bridge divides and inspire lasting change.

“Leadership is most effective when it is collaborative and people-centered.”

Dr. Jamila’s identity as a policy analyst and digital transformation leader was forged through advanced training at the London School of Economics and Imperial College London. These programs equipped her with frameworks, tools, and global perspectives to critically evaluate governance challenges and lead digital transformation initiatives in ways that are inclusive and sustainable.

This identity is reflected in practice. In her consultancy work, advisory roles, and teaching, Dr. Jamila approaches challenges with a dual lens: rigorous, evidence-based policy analysis and human-centered digital innovation. Whether advising on education strategies, contributing to inclusive development discussions, or mentoring young leaders, she brings these insights into every endeavor.

Her cross-sector experience, from academia to donor-funded development programs to executive government roles, has given her a comprehensive view of how systems work and how they can be made to work better for people.

Serving as Commissioner of Education in Bauchi State proved both humbling and transformative for Dr. Jamila. Stepping into the role as a young academic with no political background, she faced skepticism about her ability to navigate government bureaucracy, community expectations, and political pressures. Rather than being discouraged, she embraced these challenges, leading with integrity, listening deeply, and building trust across diverse constituencies.

Dr. Jamila’s experience taught her that leadership is not about titles or authority, but about creating spaces for collaboration. Working with traditional rulers, teachers, civil servants, development partners, and young people showed her how diverse voices, when respected, can align toward common goals.

Her work was also deeply human. Beyond policies and reforms, she encountered stories of students, teachers, and parents whose lives were directly affected by government decisions, reinforcing the idea that governance is not abstract, it touches people in immediate and personal ways.

Dr. Jamila’s drive is rooted in her upbringing and faith. Growing up in a family and culture that valued service, discipline, and resilience gave her a strong foundation, while her faith continues to remind her that work is ultimately an act of responsibility and stewardship.

She draws inspiration from mentors, teachers, colleagues, and the young people she meets, all of whom reinforce the importance of education and empowerment. Societal challenges, gaps in education, inequities in opportunity, and the urgent need for inclusive development, fuel her commitment to making a difference.

Her work is guided by core values: integrity, equity, impact, and continuous learning.

Dr. Jamila combines grassroots wisdom with global insight to ensure that ideas are both visionary and grounded in reality. Operating at the intersection of communication, governance, and digital innovation, she connects theory with practical solutions.

In her university lectures, she integrates real policy case studies and encourages students to co-create solutions, transforming classrooms into laboratories of innovation. Her experience in public service underscored the importance of listening before acting, as true reform begins with understanding. As a strategist, she emphasizes human-centered design, ensuring that solutions respond to people’s needs rather than abstract models.

Dr. Jamila’s early career in public service was met with skepticism due to her age and non-affiliation with political groups. Leading a ministry perceived as political and vast was a significant challenge, but she responded with competence, evidence, and results, redefining the narrative: credibility, not connection, is the true currency of leadership.

As a woman in a highly visible position, she faced underestimation and misinterpretation of her personal life. Despite rumors and misconceptions, she remained steadfast in her beliefs and values, ultimately earning respect and recognition as a professional.

Dr. Jamila’s long-term goals focus on deepening her scholarship, mentoring young leaders, and sustaining ventures such as the WeCare Centre and AlRahaa businesses. She envisions creating lasting platforms for empowerment and education, leaving a legacy of meaningful impact.

“My goal is to remain authentic to my values, faith, service, and integrity, while building a body of work and a legacy that speaks for itself.”

She engages stakeholders through listening, co-creation, and shared ownership. Sustainable solutions emerge when people feel their voices matter. During the Bauchi State Education Summit, diverse participants shaped the agenda, giving legitimacy and ownership to outcomes.

In academia, Dr. Jamila fosters student-led initiatives, encouraging ownership of campaigns and projects. This approach ensures that initiatives endure beyond their initial implementation.

Among Dr. Jamila’s most fulfilling accomplishments is transforming education in Bauchi State. Her work reduced out-of-school children, implemented inclusive education policies, launched quality assurance systems, and mobilized multi-million-dollar programs with international partners. She also oversaw annual school censuses, providing critical data for a long-term strategic education plan, demonstrating that evidence-based policy, community engagement, and innovative financing can converge to produce measurable change.

Dr. Jamila is currently developing AI Sisters, a digital learning initiative leveraging artificial intelligence to expand girls’ access to education in underserved areas. She is also launching a Digital Policy Fellowship, training young Nigerians in digital governance and mentorship.

She will soon release three books reflecting her journey and advocacy: A Woven Woman: Life in Academia, Public Service and Tradition; Dear Self: Lessons from Two Years of Friday Reflection; and Educating the North: Shaping Tomorrow Together. These projects reflect her enduring commitment to education, innovation, and authentic leadership.

“Education, innovation, and authenticity are powerful tools for reshaping societies and inspiring the next generation.”

Dr. Jamila advises young professionals to begin with purpose, stay curious, and never compromise their integrity. She encourages service, continuous learning, and staying grounded in values, emphasizing that authenticity is a superpower that sustains leadership and draws opportunities.

Dr. Jamila founded the WeCare Centre for Community Awareness and Empowerment Initiative, a non-profit that supports girl-child education, women and youth empowerment, and digital literacy. The organization has reached thousands through community programs, scholarships, mentorship, and vocational training.

She is also Co-Founder of the AlRahaa Group, which includes Travels & Tours, Real Estate, Oil and Gas, and Consult, combining entrepreneurship with sustainable community impact.

Through grit, intellect, and unwavering purpose, Dr. Jamila Mohammed Dahiru continues to inspire a generation of leaders. Her work exemplifies how faith, integrity, and service can transform systems, empower communities, and leave a lasting legacy.

The Glow of Determination: How Zahra’u Yakubu’s Dream Blossomed into the Zafar Beauty Empire

Zahra’u Aminu Yakubu was born, brought up, and schooled in Bauchi. Her journey into the world of beauty and fashion began naturally — her mother was a fashion designer, so she grew up surrounded by creativity. She initially started a business in the fashion line, inspired by her mum. Makeup, at the time, was just a hobby. But along the line, with encouragement from family and a few friends, she turned that hobby into a business in 2017.

At first, her intention was simply to support her kids’ ready-to-wear clothing business. However, things took a new turn. Alhamdulillah, today she can hardly recall the last time she sewed, as her makeup business has grown tremendously. The expansion that came in 2023 marked a new chapter for her — Zafar Beauty Lounge now offers a wide range of services including hairdressing, spa treatments, pedicures, henna, and more.

The name ZAFAR holds a special meaning; it’s derived from the initials of Zahra’u’s name, her husband’s, and her children’s. Initially, the business was called ZAFAR GLAM, then later ZAFAR ELAN. But during the expansion, she and her team decided to broaden the brand to encompass more services within the beauty industry.

Interestingly, her business isn’t related to her academic course, but Zahra’u hopes to diversify in the future. Her inspiration for venturing into the beauty, fashion, and self-care industry comes from her passion for helping people look and feel their best. She has always believed that beauty isn’t just about appearance — it’s about confidence.

What continues to motivate Zahra’u to grow and expand Zafar Beauty Lounge is the satisfaction of her clients and the positive impact her work has on their lives. Each time a client leaves with a smile and renewed confidence, it reminds her why she started. She is driven by the desire to keep innovating, offer more services, and build a brand that truly represents excellence in the beauty industry.

Zafar Beauty Lounge stands for excellence, professionalism, and care. The brand values authenticity, creativity, and customer satisfaction, with the belief that beauty services should go beyond the surface. These values are evident in how every client is treated — with respect and warmth. The goal is not only to enhance beauty but also to build confidence and create a space where clients feel valued and cared for.

To ensure the mission reflects in daily operations, Zahra’u and her team remain intentional about consistency, quality, and customer care. They carefully select products to ensure safety and effectiveness because client well-being is a top priority. Feedback is also taken seriously and used to improve services, showing clients that their voices matter.

What truly sets Zafar Beauty Lounge apart is the personal touch behind everything they do. For Zahra’u, it’s not just about makeup or beauty services — it’s about helping every woman feel confident, valued, and beautiful in her own unique way. Each client’s experience is personalized, from the initial consultation to the final look, ensuring they leave not just looking good, but feeling good.

The brand’s uniqueness also comes from combining professional beauty standards with a sense of cultural elegance that reflects their identity. They maintain strict hygiene, use only trusted products, and pay attention to every detail that enhances natural beauty.

One of the major challenges Zahra’u faced was managing finances and staff during the early stages of her business. Running a beauty lounge meant balancing expenses, maintaining product quality, and keeping staff motivated. She overcame these challenges through wise budgeting, reinvesting profits, and establishing clear systems for accountability and teamwork.

Through these experiences, she learned that patience, consistency, and customer care are the true foundations of business growth. Every challenge became a lesson that refined the brand, improved service quality, and strengthened Zafar Beauty Lounge’s identity.

At the moment, Zahra’u isn’t involved in any other serious business aside from Zafar Beauty Lounge, but she looks forward to exploring new ventures in the future. Her long-term goal is to launch a cosmetic brand under the Zafar name — a line that reflects their commitment to quality, innovation, and inclusivity. This will allow the brand to serve a wider audience and solidify its place as a complete beauty and self-care brand.

At Zafar Beauty Lounge, clients are truly at the heart of everything. The team focuses on building genuine relationships by offering personalized services, listening to clients’ needs, and ensuring every visit feels like a luxury experience. The aim isn’t just to make clients look beautiful, but to make them feel valued, confident, and part of the Zafar family. They also stay connected with clients through social media platforms.

Zahra’u’s most memorable project was doing makeup for Hajia Aisha Shamsuddeen Bala Muhammad. Hajia Aisha was so pleased with the service that she paid extra, sponsored Zahra’u for an advanced class with one of Abuja’s best makeup artists, and gifted her additional makeup products. Zahra’u remains forever grateful for that experience.

When asked what’s next, she smiles and says she can’t give any spoilers — but we should definitely anticipate something big.

Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs in the beauty and wellness industry is to start with a clear purpose and stay true to it. The industry is full of trends, but authenticity is what builds lasting brands. She believes one must understand their “why” — whether it’s to empower confidence, promote self-care, or create beauty solutions — and let that guide every decision.

She also emphasizes that innovation should be a constant mindset. Entrepreneurs should keep learning, invest in their skills, and pay attention to what clients truly need. They shouldn’t be afraid to experiment, evolve, and bring something fresh to the market that reflects their unique touch.

Finally, Zahra’u advises focusing on impact, not just profit. She encourages others to build brands that add value, uplift others, and leave a positive mark. For her, that’s exactly what Zafar Beauty Lounge represents — a perfect blend of quality, creativity, and care that helps people feel their best. When you stay authentic, innovative, and purpose-driven, success naturally follows.

Niixo Ltd builds futures by giving Africa’s youth the tools, platforms, and opportunities they need to thrive

Bismillahir Rahmani Rahim

Abdullahi Chinade Abdullahi is a creative entrepreneur and tech enthusiast from Bauchi, Nigeria. From a young age, he carried a deep passion for using technology and creativity to solve real problems, especially in communities where access to innovation was limited.

His professional journey began in media and storytelling, where he produced impactful projects such as Garin Barau and Rigar Gaskiya, works that reflected culture and social issues in Northern Nigeria. Over time, his path gradually evolved into technology, design, and entrepreneurship. With resilience and vision, he went on to establish Niixo Ltd, a creative-tech enterprise dedicated to empowering Africa’s youth, businesses, and communities through innovative solutions.

The name Niixo itself carries a powerful meaning. It symbolizes innovation, creativity, and fresh perspectives. It reflects a forward-looking mindset: helping Africa move from being consumers of technology to becoming creators of solutions. Even the double “ii” in the name has purpose, representing innovation + inclusion, two values deeply woven into the company’s DNA.

Through Niixo Studios, Abdullahi has delivered branding, social media, and content creation services to brands such as AMF Fashion, Stylex Wears, Almuhibbah Open University, and others. In the tech space, he has developed youth-centered platforms like Zeeroh, a freelancing and microfinance app, and Dliva, an on-demand motorbike delivery solution that leverages WhatsApp for accessibility. These experiences not only shaped his versatility but also gave him the resilience to create and scale a solutions-driven company.

Although much of his journey in tech and entrepreneurship has been self-taught, Abdullahi never stopped learning. He immersed himself in AI, digital creativity, entrepreneurship, and public speaking. This learning mindset became the very foundation of Niixo’s culture, a company that experiments, adapts, and grows constantly.

Growing up in Northern Nigeria, Abdullahi saw first-hand how the lack of access to technology and innovation limited opportunities for young people. This reality ignited his drive to change the narrative. His philosophy has always been simple but powerful: African solutions must be designed by Africans, with cultural authenticity and global competitiveness.

Niixo Ltd was built on this philosophy and continues to embody values of innovation, inclusion, authenticity, excellence, and impact. Every project is created not just to exist, but to solve real problems. From Zeeroh empowering youth with digital earning and learning opportunities, to Dliva redesigning logistics with local realities in mind, to initiatives like Women in Tech and Emerge Creatives Conference that empower women and creatives in Northern Nigeria — Niixo remains committed to building native, practical, and scalable solutions.

The journey, however, has not been without challenges. Abdullahi has faced issues ranging from power outages that damaged equipment, to skepticism in a market still warming up to tech adoption, to balancing limited resources with big ambitions. Yet, through resilience, partnerships, and innovation, he learned to start small, build trust, and grow steadily.

His long-term vision for Niixo is bold. He dreams of expanding from a Bauchi-based company into a pan-African platform, unlocking access to technology, creativity, and innovation ecosystems across Abuja, Lagos, and eventually the entire continent. He sees Niixo as a hub of African innovation, one that trains, empowers, and transforms.

Engagement and trust remain key pillars of his work. Abdullahi connects with audiences through impactful social media campaigns, partnerships with schools and foundations, and landmark events such as Women in Tech and Emerge Creatives Conference. His belief is clear: trust is built by staying authentic, delivering results, and remaining accessible.

Among his proudest achievements is the Women in Tech initiative, a gender-based digital skills program that began as a local CSR effort. Today, it has grown beyond expectations and has even been adopted by the international NGO, shurahforall.org. This milestone stands as proof of how small, local solutions can blossom into globally recognized initiatives.

Looking forward, Abdullahi is excited about the projects Niixo is preparing to launch including the Zeeroh App (a youth ecosystem), Dliva (WhatsApp-powered logistics), and DeenFlow AI, an Islamic tech-driven da’wah media initiative. Each of these innovations reflects his core vision: combining technology, creativity, and culture to push boundaries.

To young entrepreneurs who dream of using technology and creativity to solve African problems, Abdullahi offers timeless advice: start with the problems around you, use the tools you already have, remain authentic, think big but scale step by step, and always build for impact first, profit will follow.

This is the story of Abdullahi Chinade Abdullahi, a visionary who believes Africa’s future will not be imported, but built from within.

Thank you.

The Woman Who Turned Generational Rituals of Fragrance Into a Heritage Brand That Speaks to Culture, Identity, and Wellness

Dr. Rahima Kashim was born in Sokoto and raised in Lagos, Abuja, and Bauchi. She hails from Bauchi LGA and is the great-granddaughter of Uban Doman Bauchi, as well as the daughter of the former SSG and Muqaddas of Bauchi. To her, Bauchi is home, and it is an honour that her journey has led her here.

She is a wife, a mother of three, and a lifelong gatherer of stories told through scent. Her path has taken her across continents and across disciplines. By training, she is an Optometrist, having earned a Doctor of Optometry from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana. She went on to pursue an MSc in Clinical Ophthalmology at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland and later obtained a PhD in Health and Social Care from the University of Greenwich in London, UK.

Today, she works as a senior policy advisor with the Scottish Government, where her focus is on health equity. Alongside this professional role, she is also the founder of Sahilia, a cultural wellness and fragrance brand that embodies her heritage and passion.

The inspiration for Sahilia came from both personal and professional experiences. Growing up, scent was deeply woven into daily life. Her maternal grandmother and father were perfume collectors, while her mother always filled their home with bakhour and the rituals of humrah perfume. At the same time, her academic and professional journey, combined with extensive travel, revealed the profound connection between culture, identity, and wellbeing. Sahilia was born at the intersection of those worlds, a way to preserve heritage through scent while creating mindful rituals that nurture self-care.

The name Sahilia pays homage to the Sahel, a region that stretches across Northern Nigeria and beyond. For Rahima, the Sahel represents resilience, beauty, and history. She wanted a name that honoured her roots yet carried the elegance of a global brand. Sahilia became a way of carrying the secrets of the Sahel into the modern world through fragrance, storytelling, and ritual.

Her professional background bridges optometry, academia, and public policy. As an optometrist, lecturer, and now senior government advisor, she has witnessed firsthand the importance of wellbeing, culture, and prevention in health. These experiences instilled in her resilience, strategic thinking, and the power of storytelling, all of which now shape her brand.

Her educational journey also informs her work. From her PhD, she gained the skill of deep research and the ability to translate knowledge into practical solutions. From her clinical training, she learned the importance of small rituals that sustain both life and health. These lessons are reflected in the way Sahilia is designed, carefully researched, culturally inspired, and created to bring balance into everyday life.

For Rahima, fragrance is not simply about smelling good; it is tied to identity, spirituality, and memory. Her love for scents and perfumes began early, leading her to collect perfumes and later teach herself the art of perfumery. Traditional humrah perfume held particular significance for her, given its cultural role in femininity, marriage, and family heritage. She learned the art directly from women who had preserved it for generations. This inspired her to capture that richness and share it with the world. What motivates her today are her children, she wants to show them that anything is possible with determination, and the response of people whose lives her products touch. When someone tells her that a Sahilia oil reminds them of home or helps create a calming ritual, it reinforces her mission: she is not just selling fragrance, she is preserving culture and inspiring care.

Sahilia is built on three pillars: heritage, mindfulness, and authenticity. The brand honours the history of the Sahel, encourages people to slow down through self-care, and remains true to its roots. These values are reflected in every detail, from Sahel-inspired packaging to alcohol-free and skin-friendly formulations rooted in traditional rituals. Unlike many brands that focus purely on luxury, Sahilia blends heritage with storytelling, creating an experience where each product carries the soul of the Sahel.

The journey has not been without challenges. Balancing a professional career with entrepreneurship has been demanding, and technical aspects such as packaging, shipping, and regulatory compliance have also tested her resilience. But persistence, openness to learning, and a strong vision continue to keep her moving forward.

While Sahilia remains her primary entrepreneurial focus, Rahima is also engaged in academic writing and public health consultancy. To her, all these pursuits are interconnected, each one contributes to wellbeing, though in different ways.

Her long-term vision is for Sahilia to grow into a global heritage brand, rooted in Africa but recognised worldwide. She hopes to expand beyond fragrances into wellness spaces, cultural storytelling platforms, and even books. Already, the brand is engaging communities through storytelling on Instagram and its blog, as well as by encouraging customers to share their personal “scent stories.” One particularly memorable initiative was a workshop in Bauchi where she taught over 40 young women the art of perfume-making. That experience was not just about fragrance, it was about empowerment, creativity, and opening doors to entrepreneurship.

Looking ahead, she is developing a subscription offering that allows customers to explore new scents and rituals each season. Another upcoming project is the Decolonising Fragrance series, which uncovers the untold history of perfumery’s African and Islamic roots.

Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs in self-care and wellness is simple yet powerful: stay true to your authentic story. Do not just follow trends, create something rooted in your culture, your values, and your passion. Innovation happens when tradition meets fresh ideas, but above all, patience is essential. Building something meaningful takes time.

The Many Faces of Mommy’s Pikin

The Many Faces of Mommy’s Pikin

By Bauchi Pearl Magazine

In today’s world of content creation and entrepreneurship, only a few names strike the delicate balance between relatability, professionalism, and impact. One of those names is Hulda Nuhu, popularly known as Mommy’s Pikin or Local Arewa Gyal. Hulda’s journey is not the ordinary tale of success; it is a story of resilience, versatility, and purpose. From her early days of curiosity and storytelling to becoming an entrepreneur, writer, host, mentor, and relocation coach, Hulda has proven that dreams backed by discipline can grow into movements.

A Name That Carries Legacy

The name Mommy’s Pikin is more than a catchy moniker, it is a deeply personal brand rooted in memory and humility. Initially inspired by the phrase Mommy’s Girl, Hulda chose to replace “Girl” with “Pikin,” a Pidgin English word that resonates more with everyday people. It wasn’t just about sounding unique; it was about identity, relatability, and impact.

For Hulda, this name is a constant reminder that no matter how far she goes in life, she will always remain grounded and tied to her roots. It speaks of her late mother’s memory, her values, and her drive to remain teachable, humble, and impactful. The brand she has built around it stands for legacy, impact, and consistency, qualities that shine through everything she does.

Building Blocks of a Career

Hulda’s professional journey spans multiple industries and roles. She has been a business developer, technical operator, content creator, voiceover artist, master of ceremonies, foodstuff vendor, relocation coach, and entrepreneur. Each of these roles may seem different, but together, they shaped her into the multifaceted professional she is today.

Hosting and writing gave her the stage to tell stories that matter. Entrepreneurship gave her a voice to design solutions for people’s needs. And mentoring gave her a purpose beyond herself, the joy of seeing others grow and succeed because of her guidance.

Education Meets Creativity

Her educational background in Business Management, Marketing, and Administration provided the structure she needed. Beyond classroom knowledge, education gave her the discipline to research, analyze, and transform abstract ideas into actionable plans. Management sharpened her leadership skills, while communication empowered her to inspire and organize.

This combination of structured learning and creative energy is what makes her stand out. Hulda doesn’t just dream; she plans. She doesn’t just execute; she strategizes. And most importantly, she doesn’t just create for attention — she creates for impact.

The Spark of Inspiration

The inspiration to venture into content creation came from a need to bridge gaps. Hulda saw the struggles people faced, from relocation and job hunting in Abuja to lifestyle and relationship challenges, and she knew her creativity could serve as a bridge.

Her journey into entrepreneurship followed naturally. The realization that her ideas could transform into businesses and services that people genuinely need gave her another avenue to create change. One of her most fulfilling moments comes when clients send her the simple but powerful message: “I’ve been hired.” Those three words fuel her mission and remind her that her work is not just about content, it is about life-changing impact.

Guiding Principles That Define Her

At the core of her brand are four guiding principles:

Authenticity – staying real with her audience and true to herself.

Consistency – showing up even when challenges make it difficult.

Impact – creating content and businesses that solve real-life problems.

Excellence – delivering quality in everything she does.

These values are evident in her unique hosting style, which is engaging and personable, her writing, which is practical and solution-driven, and her entrepreneurial ventures, which are professional and people-focused.

Standing Out in a Competitive World

What sets Hulda apart is her versatility and relatability. She is not confined to a single lane. One day she is a content creator, the next she is an entrepreneur, and another day she is mentoring a young person on relocation opportunities. She switches roles with ease, but always remains authentic.

In an industry saturated with voices, her edge is that she is not just producing content — she is solving problems, selling products, guiding careers, and creating communities.

The Challenges That Shaped Her

Like many successful individuals, Hulda’s journey has not been without struggles. Balancing multiple roles required discipline and sacrifice. There were financial limitations and resource constraints that could have slowed her down. But instead of letting them define her, she leveraged her creativity, maximized digital platforms, and relied on consistency.

One of her most personal challenges was navigating identity misconceptions. Some mistook her faith or doubted her northern roots, questioning her authenticity. Such doubts slowed her progress at certain stages. Yet today, those same doubts have turned into clarity — her identity is now visible, accepted, and celebrated.

A Vision Beyond Borders

Hulda’s goals are clear and ambitious. She envisions building a personal brand that inspires not only in Nigeria but across Africa and beyond. Her dream is to turn Mommy’s Pikin into a global hub for relocation coaching, entrepreneurship, and lifestyle storytelling.

She plans to publish books that inspire and guide, host international events that bring communities together, and expand her businesses into global enterprises. Her winning strategy remains unchanged: consistency, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Her Audience, Her Family

Unlike many who focus solely on numbers and statistics, Hulda prioritizes connection. She treats her audience like family. Through storytelling, interactive content, and direct communication, she creates a sense of belonging. Whether on TikTok, Facebook, or live events, her mission is to foster relationships built on trust and authenticity.

Moments That Matter

Of all her achievements, one stands out as especially memorable: helping someone secure a job and relocation opportunity through her content. The gratitude she received and the ripple effect it created reminded her of the true essence of her work. It is not about likes, shares, or viral numbers. It is about impact — changing lives one story at a time.

What’s Next for Mommy’s Pikin?

Hulda is currently working on expanding Capital Move with Mommy’s Pikin, a relocation and job guide platform that connects people with opportunities. She is also developing new products under the Mayor Gad brand and preparing an exciting content series that will focus on relationships, lifestyle, and relocation.

These upcoming projects reflect her ability to combine entrepreneurship with storytelling, always with the audience’s needs at heart.

Words of Wisdom

To aspiring content creators, writers, and entrepreneurs, Hulda’s message is both practical and inspiring:
“Start small, stay consistent, and be authentic. Don’t compare yourself with others. Focus on solving real problems, building real connections, and being reliable. Innovation isn’t always about being flashy; sometimes, it’s about being dependable.”

A Future of Collaboration

Hulda remains open to partnerships, collaborations, and training workshops. She sees these as opportunities to expand her vision, share her knowledge, and collaborate with others to create something even greater.

Conclusion

In every sense, Hulda Nuhu — Mommy’s Pikin — is more than a brand name. She is a storyteller, a problem-solver, a mentor, and an entrepreneur. Her journey embodies resilience, creativity, and impact. Through her work, she continues to prove that authenticity and consistency are the real keys to lasting success.

Her story is not just hers alone. It is a story of northern resilience, African creativity, and the limitless potential of youth who dare to dream.

The Economist Redefining Tourism Through Bauchi Friends Tours

In the bustling heart of Bauchi, a man quietly built what is now one of Nigeria’s most impactful tourism brands. Dr. Mohammad Adamu, a native of Bauchi and an academic by profession, never imagined that his passion for exploration would evolve into a venture that touches lives across communities. Today, through his initiative, Bauchi Friends Tours (BFT), he has not only redefined travel experiences but has also woven tourism into a tool for social and economic transformation.

---

From Classroom to Community Impact

Born and raised in Bauchi, Dr. Muhammad Adamu pursued his early education in Bauchi and Azare before moving on to Bayero University Kano (BUK) and later Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), where he earned a PhD in Economics. He has built a career as a teacher and researcher, shaping minds in academia. Yet, beyond the classroom, his love for travel, cultural exchange, and discovery began to shape something much larger.

What started as a hobby taking trips, capturing moments through photos and videos, and sharing them on social media soon sparked curiosity. People reached out in awe, asking how to access the hidden gems he was showcasing. Step by step, what began as a pastime evolved into a business model. With his background in economics, he designed BFT as a social enterprise, a business that thrives not only on profit but also on measurable community impact.

---

The Story Behind “Bauchi Friends”

The name Bauchi Friends was no accident. In its earliest days, Dr. Muhammad Adamu envisioned the brand as a platform to showcase the beauty of Bauchi and stimulate local economic development through tourism. The word “Friends” symbolized solidarity with Bauchi State an effort to bring people together for a common purpose. Later, as the initiative expanded far beyond his expectations, the word “Tours” was added, giving birth to the brand now widely recognized as Bauchi Friends Tours.

---

A Brand Rooted in Values

At the core of BFT are values that set it apart: responsible tourism, sustainability, and empowerment. The company champions tourism that uplifts local communities, supports small businesses, respects cultural heritage, and safeguards the environment.

These values are not merely ideals but are translated into real action. Every year, about 35% of BFT’s proceeds are reinvested in communities, with special focus on women and children. During Eid al-Adha 2025, for example, the organization partnered with clients to provide relief to Bauchi’s most vulnerable families slaughtering three large bulls worth over ₦2 million and distributing the meat to the needy.

---

Distinctive in Every Way

In an industry where many focus only on tours, BFT takes a different path. Its packages are personalized, shaped by the unique needs of clients. Visitors are treated not as customers but as friends, often welcomed into homes and introduced to families. This personal touch, combined with its alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), makes BFT stand out in Nigeria’s travel industry.

---

Challenges, Lessons, and Resilience

Like most Nigerian businesses, BFT has faced systemic challenges, particularly inadequate infrastructure and insecurity. But Dr. Muhammad Adamu’s approach is unique, he believes in community inclusion. By positively involving locals in his initiatives, he has created an environment of trust and protection. “When people see real benefits, they become your strongest shield,” he often says.

Over the years, he has also drawn lessons from the journey, chief among them are tolerance, understanding, and respect. He believes tourism, more than any other sector, teaches coexistence and peace, and that these values should guide not only travel but also human interaction at large.

---

A Defining Milestone

One of BFT’s most significant achievements came in 2021, when the organization hosted New Zealand YouTuber Nick (Indigo Traveler). Together, they raised an astonishing $80,000 for a vulnerable community in Bauchi. The funds went into building a school and orphanage, both of which continue to provide free primary education, meals, and school supplies to children in need. This single project elevated BFT’s profile globally and cemented its reputation as a socially conscious brand.

---

Innovation as a Signature

BFT’s creativity has also set it apart. A good example is at Sumu Wildlife Park. While other operators offered simple wildlife viewing, BFT introduced a more immersive experience, a fruit picnic with the wildlife. Guests sit on colorful mats with baskets of fresh fruits while animals roam in the backdrop, creating a surreal, once-in-a-lifetime setting. This unique touch has become one of BFT’s most sought-after packages, proving that innovation can turn ordinary trips into extraordinary experiences.

Words for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

For those who dream of building a brand in tourism, Dr. Muhammad Adamu offers straightforward advice: be authentic. “Do not copy others; build on your strengths and innovate,” he emphasizes. He also cautions that tourism is not a get-rich-quick venture. “Money should never be the first priority. Focus on building trust and creating impact, and the money will eventually follow.”

His story is a testament to resilience, he admits that at times the business nearly drained his finances, and friends doubted his vision. Yet, with determination, he pressed on. Today, those sacrifices are paying off.

---

Looking Ahead

While Dr. Muhammad Adamu keeps some of his long-term goals for BFT confidential, he makes it clear that the journey is only just beginning. Interestingly, BFT has no physical office, relying entirely on social media as its headquarters a deliberate choice that allows flexibility and global reach.

As he continues to innovate and expand, one thing remains constant: a firm commitment to making tourism a force for good.

---

Closing Note

Dr. Mohammad Adamu’s story is not simply about building a tourism company. It is about turning passion into purpose, transforming curiosity into opportunity, and ensuring that every journey leaves behind footprints of change.

✨ Tourism, for him, is not just about destinations it is about people, memories, and impact.

Elegance with Purpose: The Story of Fatima Husaini Adamu and Pharteeys Exclusive Collections

In the heart of Nigeria’s vibrant fashion scene, one name has steadily risen to embody confidence, elegance, and originality Pharteeys Exclusive Collections. At the center of this movement is Fatima Husaini Adamu, the visionary founder whose journey blends resilience, creativity, and a deep passion for empowering women through style.

The Roots of Resilience and Creativity

Fatima’s story begins with a background steeped in determination and a love for individuality. She pursued her academic path with distinction, studying Chemistry at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and later Environmental Management at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna. While excelling in her studies, she discovered a deeper calling entrepreneurship and brand expression.

For her, fashion was never just about fabric. It was, and still is, a language a powerful form of communication that tells stories of confidence, culture, and class. This philosophy would later inspire her to build a brand that challenges conventions and celebrates the beauty of every woman.

The Birth of a Vision

Pharteeys Exclusive Collections was born out of a simple but powerful realization. Fatima noticed a gap in the market for affordable yet luxurious fashion pieces that could make women feel bold, beautiful, and unique without compromising on quality. What began as a small idea has since evolved into a purposeful brand that empowers women to embrace their individuality unapologetically.

Even the name of the brand carries a story. Pharteeys is inspired by a cherished nickname one that reflects strength, uniqueness, and flair. Combined with Exclusive, the brand’s identity represents its core promise: to offer fashion that feels deeply personal, authentic, and aspirational. “Pharteeys,” as Fatima describes it, is not just a label but a promise of elegance, originality, and empowerment.

A Journey of Growth and Grit

Launching a brand is never without its hurdles, and Fatima’s journey was no exception. She built Pharteeys from the ground up, often wearing multiple hats in the early days—creative director, buyer, marketer, and even delivery person. These experiences grounded her and shaped her leadership style: empathetic, strategic, and purpose-driven.

Her background in retail and customer service provided invaluable lessons about consistency, patience, and the importance of truly listening to people’s needs. Education also played a significant role. From project management and teamwork to strategic planning and communication, the lessons she learned in school became the foundation for managing collections, building campaigns, and making informed business decisions.

But perhaps the most defining element of her journey has been resilience. From navigating growth with limited resources to standing firm in a fast-changing fashion landscape, Fatima has turned every challenge into a stepping stone.

At the Heart of Pharteeys

At its core, Pharteeys Exclusive Collections is more than a fashion brand it is a movement built on authenticity, quality, confidence, and class. Each collection is thoughtfully curated to make women feel like the best version of themselves, whether at work, at an event, or in their everyday lives.

The brand thrives on the philosophy of curated exclusivity. Unlike fast fashion labels, Pharteeys focuses on creating pieces that are unique, refined, and timeless. Customers are not just buying clothes; they are investing in experiences that inspire boldness and grace.

Fatima ensures these values are reflected daily—from personalized customer service to uncompromising quality control. Stories from customers who regained their confidence or found joy through Pharteeys pieces reaffirm the brand’s mission: fashion should not just be transactional, it should be transformational.

Standing Out in a Crowded Market

What sets Pharteeys apart is its commitment to style with purpose. While many fashion houses chase trends, Pharteeys remains intentional, balancing elegance with functionality. The brand offers more than just clothing it’s a lifestyle destination, catering to women’s holistic wardrobe needs with premium clothing, handbags, shoes, accessories, and even essentials for the modern woman and her family.

Customer loyalty has become one of Pharteeys’ strongest assets. Word-of-mouth referrals and genuine trust have fueled growth, proving that authenticity resonates far deeper than hype.

Milestones and Moments that Matter

Among the many highlights of her journey, Fatima recalls one of her proudest moments: Pharteeys’ first major product showcase and customer appreciation event. It wasn’t just about displaying clothes; it was about celebrating confidence, beauty, and growth. The overwhelming response, with collections selling out and customers sharing personal stories of empowerment, marked a turning point. Pharteeys was no longer just a brand it had become a community.

The Future of Pharteeys

Looking ahead, Fatima envisions Pharteeys as a global lifestyle brand recognized across Africa and beyond. She dreams of launching signature clothing lines, opening flagship stores, and expanding into new markets. But her vision extends beyond fashion. She hopes to empower women through employment, training, and opportunities proving that fashion can be a force for transformation.

Digital growth also plays a key role in this future. By expanding Pharteeys’ online presence, Fatima aims to make the brand accessible to women everywhere, creating a global community connected by confidence and style.

Beyond Fashion: Precision Multipurpose Services

Fatima’s entrepreneurial drive doesn’t stop with Pharteeys. She is also the founder of Precision Multipurpose Services, a business providing school, office, and party supplies. While different in focus, both ventures share the same values—excellence, attention to detail, and customer satisfaction.

Running both brands has sharpened her ability to anticipate trends, manage logistics, and deliver quality. In many ways, they complement each other: where Precision brings order and functionality, Pharteeys brings flair and individuality. Together, they reflect Fatima’s belief in versatility and purpose-driven business.

A Legacy in the Making

From humble beginnings to becoming a voice of confidence in the fashion world, Fatima Husaini Adamu’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. Through Pharteeys Exclusive Collections, she has built more than a brand; she has built a movement one that celebrates individuality, uplifts women, and redefines elegance with purpose.

Her story is a reminder that fashion is not just about fabric, cuts, or colors. It is about stories, empowerment, and the courage to embrace one’s uniqueness. And as Pharteeys continues to grow, one thing is certain—Fatima’s legacy of elegance, originality, and empowerment is only just beginning.

A Business Built on Love: The Lasting Impact of Kidz Affairz on Families Across Bauchi and Northern Nigeria.

Yemisi Omoragbon – Dressing Dreams, One Child at a Time

In the heart of Bauchi, where tradition meets ambition, one woman has quietly built a brand that blends style, quality, and heart. Yemisi Omoragbon, an accomplished accountant and passionate humanitarian, is the founder of Kidz Affairz—a thriving children’s clothing and essentials brand that began not in a boardroom, but in the living room of her home.

---

Rooted in Bauchi, Powered by Passion

A proud Yoruba woman from Kogi State, Yemisi was born and raised in Bauchi. It’s here that her earliest memories were made, and it’s here she continues to invest her energy, dreams, and heart. Professionally, her journey has been impressive—spanning over five years in the banking sector, where she honed her financial skills, followed by a meaningful career in the development sector with a focus on humanitarian work.

But beyond the numbers and professional milestones lies a softer side—her love for children. Nothing warms her heart more than seeing them happy, confident, and cared for.

---

When Motherhood Meets Entrepreneurship

Yemisi’s turning point came when she became a mother herself. Suddenly, the challenges she once observed became personal. Finding quality, stylish, and affordable clothes for her children in Bauchi was not only frustrating—it was nearly impossible.

“I wanted outfits that were beautiful, durable, and unique,” she recalls. “But I often had to travel far to find what I needed.”

That struggle planted a seed. What if she could bring these products closer to home—not just for her children, but for every parent in Bauchi facing the same challenges?

---

The Birth of Kidz Affairz

In April 2012, Yemisi turned her idea into reality. With determination and a vision, she started Kidz Affairz right from her living room. At first, she focused on party packs and favors for children’s events. Demand grew quickly, and soon, her home was overflowing with products. It was clear she had tapped into something much bigger.

She expanded into clothing, accessories, and other essentials, transforming Kidz Affairz into a one-stop shop for children’s needs. The name itself was intentional: the playful “Z” in Kidz represents creativity and uniqueness, while Affairz signals the brand’s all-encompassing approach to meeting children’s needs.

---

From Local Store to Community Brand

Today, Kidz Affairz is known not just for its products, but for the experience it offers. Yemisi blends her banking expertise with her humanitarian instincts—ensuring the business runs efficiently while staying deeply connected to customer needs. She actively seeks feedback, adapts to market trends, and consistently delivers on her promise of quality and affordability.

The brand’s reach now extends beyond clothing. Recognizing the importance of education, Yemisi began supplying teaching aids and learning materials to schools in Bauchi and Damaturu. By partnering with educators, Kidz Affairz supports both learning and community development.

---

Overcoming the Early Hurdles

The journey wasn’t without challenges. Entering a competitive market with an unknown brand was daunting. Financial constraints meant stocking high-quality inventory was a risk, and some customers initially doubted that affordable could also mean authentic.

But Yemisi stayed consistent. She built trust one customer at a time, relied on referrals, and let her products speak for themselves. Over time, skepticism gave way to loyalty.

---

The Heart Behind the Brand

Ask Yemisi what drives her, and her answer is simple: “I love seeing children happy.” That love shines through in everything she does—from carefully sourcing materials to making sure every parent leaves satisfied. For her, Kidz Affairz isn’t just a business—it’s a mission to bring joy, confidence, and convenience to families.

She is also deeply committed to giving back. Beyond running her business, she mentors young girls and aspiring entrepreneurs, encouraging them to stay consistent, maintain originality, and collaborate with others. Her humanitarian work continues to influence her leadership style, grounding her business in empathy and community connection.

---

Looking Ahead

Yemisi envisions Kidz Affairz becoming a household name across northern Nigeria. She wants it to be the go-to destination for everything a child needs—clothing, accessories, educational materials, and leisure products. To get there, she’s focused on seamless service, affordable quality, and expanding collaborations with schools and businesses.

Her long-term dream is to see Kidz Affairz stores in multiple cities, each one serving as both a retail hub and a community space for parents and children.

---

Words of Wisdom

For those looking to follow in her footsteps, Yemisi’s advice is both practical and heartfelt:

Be consistent—success doesn’t happen overnight.

Know your market—but bring your own originality to stand out.

Collaborate—business grows faster when you build partnerships.

Build character—especially when working with children, authenticity matters.

---

A Lasting Legacy

From a mother’s frustration to a brand beloved by families, Yemisi Omoragbon’s story is proof that passion and perseverance can create lasting change. Kidz Affairz is more than a store—it’s a brand that dresses dreams, nurtures confidence, and builds community.

And in Bauchi, the children wearing Kidz Affairz aren’t just stylish—they’re part of a story that began with love, and continues to grow with every smile.

Sadiya Yakubu’s Story: Turning Childhood Dreams into a Fashion Revolution

Sadiya Marafa Yakubu, widely recognized for her brand Affordable Collectionz, was born and raised in the vibrant city of Bauchi, Nigeria. Her educational journey began at Fomwan Nursery and Primary School, where her curiosity and enthusiasm for learning took root. She later attended Command Day Secondary School, honing her academic skills, before advancing to Aminu Saleh College of Education in Azare. There, she pursued studies in Biology and Chemistry, balancing her intellectual growth with an innate passion for creativity and entrepreneurship that would later define her career.

During her early teenage years, Sadiya displayed a keen interest in business. The spark ignited right in her mother's sitting room. She dreamed of creating something meaningful, a venture that would allow her to express her love for fashion and empower others through style. Her parents had different ideas. Prioritizing her education, they encouraged her to focus on her studies, believing she was too young to pursue financial endeavors. Despite this, Sadiya's entrepreneurial spirit remained undeterred, quietly growing within her until the time was right to bring her vision to life.

Years later, this vision materialized into Affordable Collectionz, a brand that would become a testament to her resilience and dedication. The name was carefully chosen, reflecting Sadiya's deep-rooted passion for fashion and her commitment to making high-quality, stylish fabrics accessible to everyone. Her love for seeing people look good and presentable drove her to create a brand that stood for quality, variety, affordability, and uniqueness. She focused on sourcing the finest fabrics, both locally and internationally, ensuring they were not only beautiful but also priced in a way that welcomed customers of all economic backgrounds.

Sadiya's passion for fashion showed up early in her childhood. She took great care in her appearance, earning compliments at social gatherings that fueled her desire to help others achieve the same confidence through their style. The admiration she received inspired her to channel this passion into a business that celebrated beauty and self-expression. Affordable Collectionz became a platform where customers could find fabrics that not only met their aesthetic desires but also reflected their unique personalities.

Building a business required more than passion. It demanded discipline, consistency, and an openness to learning through others. Sadiya embraced the opportunity to connect with people across diverse tribes and backgrounds, each interaction enriching her understanding of her craft and her customers' needs. These encounters provided her with fresh perspectives, business ideas, and valuable relationships that strengthened her brand. She cultivated a network of like-minded individuals, fostering collaborations that propelled Affordable Collectionz forward.

The unwavering support of her parents, husband, family, and loyal customers played a pivotal role in Sadiya's journey. Their encouragement and patronage gave her the confidence to push through challenges and expand her vision. To make her fabrics even more accessible, Sadiya introduced an innovative installment payment system, known as "adashe," allowing customers to purchase their desired fabrics over time without straining their budgets. This thoughtful approach ensured that her brand remained inclusive, catering to customers who valued quality but needed flexible payment options.

Sadiya's commitment to quality was uncompromising. She meticulously sourced a wide range of fabrics (luxury, medium, and smaller options) both within Nigeria and abroad, always prioritizing excellence. Her dedication extended to every aspect of the customer experience. Whether customers chose to pick up their purchases in person or opted for waybill delivery, Sadiya ensured prompt and reliable service. She took personal responsibility for addressing any issues with dispatch riders or park drivers, ensuring her customers' trust remained intact.

Running a business came with its share of challenges, particularly the need for sufficient capital to sustain and grow her operations. Yet, Sadiya's determination, coupled with her faith, carried her through. She leaned on prayer, patience, and a steadfast work ethic. These qualities, combined with the loyalty of her customers, helped her overcome financial hurdles. Over time, Affordable Collectionz grew not just as a business but as a symbol of what was possible through perseverance and a commitment to excellence.

Sadiya's engagement with her customers extended into the digital realm, where she leveraged platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, and TikTok to showcase her fabrics. She posted vibrant images of her collections, inviting customers to explore, choose, and place orders with ease. Her communication style was warm and respectful, always taking the time to explain details or answer questions in a way that made customers feel valued. This personal touch fostered a sense of community, turning one-time buyers into loyal patrons who trusted her brand implicitly.

One of Sadiya's proudest moments came when her business reached beyond Nigeria's borders. Securing patronage for customers in the United States and other countries to supply fabrics for asoebi was a milestone that filled her with joy. Another significant achievement was establishing contacts in Asia to customize and import unique fabrics, further elevating her brand's offerings. These moments marked not only the growth of Affordable Collectionz but also Sadiya's ability to turn her dreams into reality on a global stage.

Beyond her fabric business, Sadiya took on the role of state representative for a healthcare product supplement company based in Kaduna. This venture showcased her versatility and ambition as she balanced her passion for fashion with her interest in health and wellness. In the future, Sadiya envisions expanding Affordable Collectionz to employ more staff and serve a broader clientele. Her goal is to build a business empire that leaves a lasting impact on society, becoming a household name synonymous with quality, integrity, and exceptional customer service.

Sadiya's journey offers valuable lessons for aspiring entrepreneurs. She emphasizes the importance of maintaining high product standards, prioritizing quality and honesty, and establishing reliable channels of communication and supply. Her story is one of passion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to empowering others through fashion. With every fabric she sells and every customer she serves, Sadiya continues to weave a legacy of creativity, connection, and care, proving that with dedication and faith, dreams can indeed become reality.

Empowered Women Leading the Way to Brighter Futures for All.

I want to tell you about an extraordinary woman named Aisha Shaibu-Salami, who hails from Ihima Local Government in Kogi State and has made Bauchi her home. Aisha is a wife, a mother, and a passionate advocate who pours her soul into every cause she embraces. She’s the kind of person who doesn’t just notice a gap in her community she rolls up her sleeves and works tirelessly to fill it, driven by a deep-seated commitment to building a brighter future, not only for herself but for everyone around her. Her passion for unity, particularly among women, is the heartbeat of her mission. Aisha firmly believes that when women come together, supporting and uplifting one another, they can achieve far more than they ever could by competing or tearing each other down. Her story is one of resilience, vision, and an unwavering dedication to creating meaningful change.

Aisha’s journey is deeply rooted in a robust educational foundation. She earned a degree in Computer Science from the University of Abuja, affectionately known as Gwags, and later expanded her expertise through training in Data Analysis, Branding, and Marketing with Africa Agility. These experiences did more than equip her with technical skills they shaped her into a strategic thinker, a creative problem-solver, and someone who excels at connecting ideas and people. Over the years, she’s taken on a multitude of roles, each with purpose and intention: Data Analyst, Growth Marketing Associate, Community Manager, and, most notably, the Founder and Executive Director of the Doctors Wives Association Bauchi. Beyond these professional titles, Aisha is a gifted storyteller and a fierce advocate for girl-child education, driven by her conviction that every girl deserves the chance to dream big and pursue her ambitions. At her core, she’s a woman fueled by progress, purpose, and an unshakable love for people.

The story of how Aisha founded the Doctors Wives Association Bauchi begins in a deeply personal moment. After getting married, she moved with her husband to Bauchi for his medical residency, leaving behind the familiar comforts of her life in Abuja. In this new city, where she knew no one, Aisha felt profoundly isolated and out of place for the first two years. It was a challenging period, marked by loneliness and the daunting task of starting over in an unfamiliar environment. Then, during a heartfelt conversation with her sister-in-law, a spark of inspiration emerged. Her sister-in-law suggested she bring doctors’ wives together to form a bond a sisterhood that could provide support and connection. That simple yet powerful idea resonated deeply with Aisha, planting the seed for what would become a transformative movement.

With characteristic determination, Aisha reached out to a few doctors’ wives she had met in Bauchi. She shared her vision of creating a community where they could lean on one another, share their experiences, and build something meaningful together. With the help of those who had been in the city longer and knew more people, she began connecting with other women. Aisha created a WhatsApp group, inviting anyone eager to join the initiative. What started as casual gatherings—fun hangouts, picnics, and moments of laughter quickly evolved into something far more significant. Since she was a little girl, Aisha had prayed for the opportunity to help others and make a lasting impact, a dream she carried into adulthood. Seeing that vision come to life in Bauchi feels nothing short of surreal to her. In 2019, she officially founded the Doctors Wives Association Bauchi, turning her personal experience of isolation into a powerful force for connection, empowerment, and change.

This association is far more than a support group for doctors’ wives it’s a movement dedicated to making a tangible difference in the lives of women, children, and especially the girl child in their community. Since its inception, an astonishing 95% of their projects have been funded through the members’ monthly contributions, without reliance on major sponsors. This speaks volumes about their commitment, resourcefulness, and shared sense of purpose. Aisha often reflects with gratitude, saying, “Alhamdulillah for how far we’ve come,” but she’s quick to emphasize that this is only the beginning of what they can achieve. The association’s work is a testament to what a group of women, united by shared experiences and fueled by love and determination, can accomplish when they come together.

The Doctors Wives Association Bauchi stands as a beacon of unity, compassion, and purposeful action. It’s not just about being married to doctors; it’s about being changemakers who uplift one another while giving back to society in meaningful ways. Aisha and her team have built a bridge between their personal experiences and the broader needs of underserved communities, focusing on empowering women, supporting children, and advocating for girl-child education. Their projects are as practical as they are impactful: they’ve built wells to provide clean water to communities in desperate need, created pad banks to promote menstrual hygiene and dignity, supported incarcerated women at correctional facilities to restore their sense of worth, advocated for the importance of education, and even paid school fees for girls to ensure they can stay in school and pursue their dreams. Each initiative is carefully chosen to promote dignity, health, education, and social inclusion, reflecting Aisha’s vision of holistic support for women and children while fostering a strong, supportive bond among the members themselves.

Aisha’s education has been a cornerstone of her leadership. Her degree in Computer Science, combined with her training in Data Analysis, Branding, and Marketing, gave her more than technical expertise it taught her how to think strategically, adapt to challenges, and see the connections between seemingly disparate elements. These skills are evident in every aspect of her work, whether she’s planning a community project, managing a team, or charting the next steps for the association. During her university days, she worked on technical challenges in teams, learning how to unite people with diverse strengths and perspectives. That experience now informs how she brings women together under a shared vision, navigates conflicts with grace, and builds lasting relationships within the association. Her ability to foster collaboration and maintain harmony among members is a direct reflection of those early lessons.

Her passion for technology, which took root during her university years, has only grown stronger over time. Aisha has collaborated on building simple tech solutions and leverages digital tools social media, data visualization, storytelling platforms to amplify the association’s impact. For her, technology isn’t just a tool; it’s a powerful enabler that allows the association to coordinate projects with precision, raise awareness through compelling digital campaigns, and make data-driven decisions that enhance their outreach. This tech-savvy approach gives the association a unique edge, enabling them to operate with remarkable efficiency and connect with broader audiences in ways that traditional methods simply couldn’t achieve. Whether it’s analyzing data to measure the impact of their projects or using social media to share stories of transformation, Aisha’s embrace of technology has elevated the association’s work to new heights.

The Doctors Wives Association Bauchi is guided by five core values that Aisha has instilled: Unity, Service, Empathy, Growth, and Integrity. These values are the heartbeat of everything they do. Unity shines through in the safe, supportive space they’ve created, where their WhatsApp group is far more than a communication tool—it’s a vibrant hub for real conversations, where women encourage one another through tough times, celebrate each other’s victories, and share their dreams and challenges. Service and empathy shape their projects, like when they built a well for a community without access to clean water, listening carefully to the people’s needs and responding with care, or when they supported incarcerated women, driven by the belief that every woman deserves dignity, no matter her circumstances. Growth is a priority, with members participating in skill-building workshops, entrepreneurship programs, and advocacy campaigns, all while embracing digital tools to expand their reach and impact. Integrity keeps them grounded the fact that 95% of their projects are self-funded through monthly contributions speaks to their unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and impact over recognition. Even when they received donations for their most recent project, it covered less than half the costs, yet Aisha remains deeply grateful to those who support their cause, always acknowledging their contributions with humility and grace.

What sets the Doctors Wives Association Bauchi apart is its foundation in personal connection, not formality. Aisha built a sisterhood, not just an organization, rooted in compassion, commitment, and a shared sense of purpose rather than external funding. Their work is intentional, always responding to real, pressing community needs rather than chasing arbitrary goals. Technology plays a pivotal role in their uniqueness Aisha uses data to track their impact, digital campaigns to build awareness, and streamlined operations to manage their work with efficiency. This combination of heart, purpose, and innovation makes them stand out among other community organizations. They don’t just run projects; they track their outcomes, share their stories across platforms, and use technology to amplify their message, ensuring their efforts resonate far beyond Bauchi.

Aisha ensures the association stays true to its mission and values by weaving them into every decision, project, and interaction. She fosters a culture of transparency, accountability, and shared purpose, reinforced through regular meetings, heartfelt reflections, and open communication that keep the group aligned. The WhatsApp group is a lifeline, not just for announcements but for building a community where women uplift one another in meaningful ways. Every project, from wells to pad banks to educational support, is chosen with care, driven by empathy and a commitment to restoring dignity and creating opportunities. Aisha encourages continuous growth, whether through skill-building workshops for members or leveraging technology to enhance their storytelling and operational efficiency, ensuring their work creates lasting, transformative change.

What drives Aisha is the impact she sees lives transformed, women empowered, and communities uplifted, even through the smallest, most intentional efforts. She’s motivated by the knowledge that her work creates space for others to thrive, whether it’s a young girl attending school because of their support, a woman finding strength in their sisterhood, or a community gaining access to clean water for the first time. Aisha’s vision is expansive she sees endless potential in what the association can achieve, and she’s committed to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. With technology as an amplifier, the power of their sisterhood as their foundation, and Aisha’s leadership lighting the way, the Doctors Wives Association Bauchi is poised to keep growing, innovating, and making a profound difference. Her story is one of resilience, vision, and an unrelenting commitment to building a better future for her community, and it’s a privilege to share it with you.

Cooking with Love, Leading with Resilience: The Inspiring Story of Mkay’s Treats and Attires in Bauchi

Maryam Muhammad Kabir, a proud indigene of Bauchi State from Azare Local Government, is a shining example of passion meeting purpose. With a degree in Crop Production from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi, she has woven her academic foundation into a thriving entrepreneurial venture. Maryam’s journey as the founder of Mkay’s Treats and Attires is a testament to her resilience, creativity, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Her story is one of grit, growth, and an unrelenting love for creating food that brings people together.

Maryam’s affinity for the kitchen began at the tender age of eight, under the watchful eye of her mother, who had no patience for idleness. In a bustling household of nine, and often more when extended family joined, Maryam learned to navigate the chaos of meal preparation. From pounding spices to stirring pots large enough to feed a crowd, she developed a natural ease in the kitchen. What started as a chore transformed into a passion, as cooking became a creative outlet—a manipulatively fun craft where she could experiment and excel. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect, and Maryam’s countless hours in the kitchen sharpened her skills, laying the groundwork for what would become her life’s work.

The spark for Mkay’s Treats ignited with a simple but pivotal moment. While scrolling through a WhatsApp group chat, Maryam overheard friends who had returned from studying abroad lamenting their craving for the nostalgic, clean taste of Awara, a beloved local delicacy. Living in Bauchi, she often observed a street vendor near her home skillfully preparing Awara dough. Inspired, Maryam saw an opportunity. With just N200 in her purse, she purchased Awara worth N100, used ingredients from her mother’s kitchen to whip up a complementary sauce, and packaged it in a takeaway container she found at home. Adding some pepper for N50, she sold the pack for N250, pocketing a modest N50 profit. That small transaction was the humble beginning of Mkay’s Treats. Her friends raved about the dish, and soon, word spread to family, friends, and beyond. With the support of her community, her venture blossomed, a success she attributes to the blessings of Allah and the encouragement of those around her.

Mkay’s Treats has grown exponentially, molded by Maryam’s hard work, resilience, patience, and, above all, consistency. From her early days cooking solo in her mother’s kitchen, she now oversees a team of over 15 employees in a dedicated kitchen space. Customer satisfaction is at the heart of her business. Maryam ensures that every dish adheres to time-tested recipes that prioritize quality and taste. Her kitchen has developed its own language—terms like “yankan Awara” signal precise crescent slices of onions, peppers, sausages, and carrots, ensuring uniformity in flavor and presentation. This meticulous attention to detail has kept customers returning, drawn to the familiar yet exceptional taste of her meals.

Maryam’s education at ATBU played a significant role in shaping her entrepreneurial journey. Her favorite course, food processing, taught by Dr. Tilde, was a revelation. It bridged her love for cooking with the practical science of transforming raw ingredients into marketable products. The course opened her eyes to the potential of food as a business, showing her how to monetize her skills. Beyond food processing, courses in business management, entrepreneurship, and leadership development equipped her with the tools to navigate the complexities of running a business. Maryam firmly believes that knowledge is power, and the foundation she built during her undergraduate years continues to guide her. She views any future learning as an opportunity to add to this robust foundation.

Her mother remains her greatest inspiration. Without formal training from a catering school, Maryam credits her culinary expertise to the lessons learned at her mother’s side. Her mother’s encouragement opened her eyes to the beauty of her craft, a gift she believes was bestowed upon her by Allah. The initial demand for her food—sparked by friends seeking familiar flavors—combined with her mother’s unwavering support, gave Maryam the confidence to pursue her venture. Today, her business not only feeds countless customers but also provides livelihoods for her employees, a legacy she cherishes deeply.

Running a food business is not without its challenges. Early on, Maryam struggled with delivery logistics and securing a consistent supply of ingredients. To address these hurdles, she launched Mkay’s Logistics, a dedicated service to ensure timely and efficient delivery of her products. She also diversified her sources for ingredients, making her supply chain more reliable. These solutions have streamlined operations and strengthened her business’s foundation. Maryam has learned that competition arises when a product is exceptional, and she embraces this as a sign of her brand’s worth.

Looking ahead, Maryam envisions Mkay’s Treats as a household name, with a state-of-the-art kitchen that serves as the first choice for customers within and beyond Bauchi State. Her strategy is simple yet powerful: maintain the quality and taste that define her brand while fostering a collaborative spirit with her team. To build a loyal customer base, she engages her audience through creative initiatives like promos, food reviews, and personal tutoring sessions. Accessibility is key—customers can reach her through phone calls, text messages, face-to-face interactions, WhatsApp, Instagram, and TikTok, creating a sense of community and trust.

Beyond food, Maryam’s business, officially named Mkay’s Treats and Attires, has expanded into selling readymade clothes. This venture has broadened her customer base, as clients drawn to her quality clothing discover her culinary offerings. The synergy between the two arms of her business has strengthened customer loyalty, as they trust her to deliver excellence in both food and fashion. However, Mkay’s Treats remains the cornerstone of her enterprise, the heart of her entrepreneurial journey.

Awara holds a special place in Maryam’s heart. The first pack she made, sold for a modest profit, symbolizes the love and acceptance her business has received. It was a dish that not only launched her venture but also became a signature offering, expanding her customer base and cementing her reputation. Another defining moment came when Mkay’s Treats was chosen to cater for the Flagg Off Ceremony of the Kolmani Integrated Development Project, an event attended by former Nigerian President Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and other prominent leaders. The task was daunting—requiring travel to a remote location, adherence to strict protocols, and flawless food quality. With her team leaving Bauchi by 3 a.m. to prepare meals by 2 a.m. and serve by 7 a.m., the effort was grueling. Yet, their success was a powerful lesson in resilience, proving that dedication could overcome even the toughest challenges.

In 2024, Mkay’s Treats took on another milestone by catering for the Moniepoint BRM conference across all NorthEast states. This opportunity expanded her business’s scope and introduced her brand to a wider audience, further solidifying her reputation for excellence. These high-profile events have not only elevated Mkay’s Treats but also deepened Maryam’s understanding of the power of perseverance and teamwork.

Maryam’s advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is rooted in her own experience: cooking is an art that demands passion and precision, much like solving a mathematical problem. It requires showing up consistently, giving your best, and embracing hard work. For Maryam, success is not just about profit but about creating something meaningful—a business that feeds people, employs them, and brings joy to their lives.

With her aprons tied and her passion burning brighter than ever, Maryam continues to lead Mkay’s Treats and Attires with a vision that extends far beyond the kitchen. Her story is one of turning a childhood chore into a thriving enterprise, proving that with faith, determination, and a sprinkle of creativity, anything is possible. As she prepares to serve her next dish, Maryam invites the world to get their tastebuds ready—her journey is far from over, and the best is yet to come.

Honoring a Family Legacy: How Ibrahim Salihu Built Nugget Art with Heart and Vision

Ibrahim Salihu, known as Young Nugget, was born in 1997 and has carved a path as a visual artist specializing in realistic drawing and painting. With a diploma in architecture from Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic in Bauchi and a BSc in tourism studies, his education laid a foundation in critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication—skills that now fuel his creative business, Nugget Art. His artistic journey, however, began not in a classroom but through a gift passed down from his grandfather, an artist whose creativity and passion shaped Ibrahim’s worldview. Surrounded by art from a young age, he absorbed diverse ideas and perspectives, naturally gravitating toward artistic expression without formal training. His frequent attendance at exhibitions further honed his craft and deepened his connection to the art world.

The name “Nugget Art” carries deep personal meaning, inspired by Ibrahim’s uncle, also an artist, who described his work as “nuggets”—small, precious pieces of creativity brimming with significance. This idea, that every piece of art, no matter its size, holds value, became the cornerstone of Ibrahim’s brand. Naming it Nugget Art was a tribute to his uncle’s influence and a commitment to celebrating creativity in all its forms.

Ibrahim’s professional journey began with self-directed exploration, driven by curiosity and passion. Initially sharing his work online, he was encouraged by the response to take his art seriously, marking the birth of Nugget Art. In the early days, he handled every aspect of the business—creating, marketing, customer service, and packaging. These hands-on experiences taught him the importance of consistency, adaptability, and staying connected with his audience. As Nugget Art grew, it evolved into more than a creative outlet; it became a brand and a community. Ibrahim’s leadership style, rooted in empathy, honesty, and creativity, reflects his commitment to staying true to his vision while remaining open to growth and collaboration. Each interaction, challenge, and customer message has shaped his approach to both art and business, reinforcing his trust in his instincts and the joy of creating.

Though his formal education wasn’t in fine art, it equipped him with skills critical to running Nugget Art. Project management, goal-setting, and analytical thinking now inform his branding, customer engagement, and product launches. The ability to break big ideas into actionable steps, learned through his studies, has been key to the brand’s intentional growth.

Nugget Art is deeply personal, born from Ibrahim’s desire to connect with others and express what words often cannot. Inspired by life’s small, beautiful moments, the brand reflects his belief that even the tiniest piece of creativity can spark joy, comfort, or reflection. The name “Nugget Art” encapsulates this philosophy—each piece is a treasure, no matter how small. The community surrounding the brand fuels Ibrahim’s drive, as he cherishes the stories and connections his work inspires. Knowing his art resonates with others, making them feel seen or joyful, keeps him motivated.

At its core, Nugget Art is about sincerity, connection, creativity, and accessibility, celebrating everyday moments and cultural heritage. Ibrahim’s goal is to create art that fosters belonging and appreciation for diverse cultural expressions. This mission guides every aspect of the brand, from creation to customer interactions. He practices intentional design, crafting pieces that tell stories and evoke emotion rather than chasing trends. He personally handles most customer interactions, responding with warmth and often including handwritten notes in orders to show genuine appreciation. Sustainability is also a priority, with eco-friendly packaging and thoughtfully sourced materials reflecting his care for the world. When drawing on cultural themes, he approaches them with authenticity and respect, rooted in his own experiences while avoiding stereotypes. Ibrahim also champions community over competition, collaborating with and uplifting other artists to foster connection.

What sets Nugget Art apart is its heart. Each piece is handmade, deeply personal, and rooted in storytelling, cultural identity, and emotional resonance. In a world often driven by trends or mass production, Ibrahim focuses on meaning, creating art that feels intimate and familiar, sparking memories and emotions for his audience.

Building Nugget Art has been a journey of growth, marked by challenges like imposter syndrome and the vulnerability of sharing his work. Early on, Ibrahim grappled with self-doubt, questioning whether his art was “good enough.” By focusing on connection rather than perfection, he found the confidence to continue, reminding himself that even one person resonating with his work made it worthwhile.

Ibrahim envisions Nugget Art expanding thoughtfully, with new product lines like journals or home goods while preserving its personal touch. His dream is for the brand to become a creative space—online or physical—where people feel seen and inspired through workshops, storytelling, or artist features. Collaborations with local artists, cultural organizations, or nonprofits are also part of his vision, amplifying the brand’s impact while staying rooted in purpose. Ultimately, he aims to sustain himself fully through Nugget Art, creating meaningful work without burnout.

Community is the heartbeat of Nugget Art. Ibrahim sees his customers as collaborators, their stories and support inspiring his creations. He responds to every message with care, treating each interaction as a relationship rather than a transaction. One of his most memorable projects was a series celebrating the YakubnBauchi, a cultural figure central to his heritage. This project, which explored themes of identity and pride, resonated deeply with his audience, sparking heartfelt conversations and strengthening the Nugget Art community. It not only enriched Ibrahim’s creative journey but also solidified the brand’s reputation for celebrating cultural heritage.

Ibrahim is excited about upcoming projects that feel close to his heart, eager to share them with his community. For now, Nugget Art remains his primary focus, with all his energy poured into building it authentically. While he dreams of expanding into workshops or cultural collaborations, his current priority is nurturing the brand with intention and care. To aspiring artists, he offers simple advice: start small, but start now. One piece, one story, one idea is enough to begin, letting your community grow alongside you.
